TerrAlimenta 2.0

TerrAlimenta 2.0 follows the initial TerrAlimenta project (2022–2024), which consolidated a multi-sectoral network in the Baixo Alentejo region around the transition to Territorialized Food Systems (TFS). The project tested methodologies, empowered local actors, and produced strategic recommendations to support the creation of a collaborative territorial agenda.

The TerrAlimenta 2.0 project aims to strengthen regional collective action for the implementation of a collaborative governance system between the public sector, local development agents, the social sector, and rural entrepreneurs, centered around the implementation of a sustainable food basin that promotes planetary and human health (through the ‘one health’ concept), stimulates local entrepreneurship, and simultaneously encourages cohesion, cooperation, and sustainability in the intervention area.

In Mértola, Terra Sintrópica will co-promote with the Municipality a community engagement project to consolidate the Mértola Food Network and its connection to a regional Food Basin, as a strategy for social cohesion, linking food, health and well-being, economy, education, demography and climate change in the Municipality.

This project is funded by the Partnerships for Non-Urban Cohesion, financed by the Alentejo 2030 program and coordinated by ESDIME.
